Dolly Parton
One of my many memorable moments as a country-western
disc jockey in the 1970s was meeting the effervescent
Dolly Parton. Her rags-to-riches story is inspiring
and her infectious beauty and charm never fail to captivate.
She was one of twelve children born in a small, two-room
home in rural Tennessee. She helped raise five of her
brothers and sisters. Her amazing popularity has continued
for a fabulous forty years since the age of 21 when
she appeared on the Porter Wagoner show. She has written
over 3000 songs and has won several Grammy and Country
Music Association Awards . She has been inducted into
the Country Music Hall of Fame and has appeared in movies
including "9 to 5". Today, her successful
theme park at the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains,
Dollywood, draws two million visitors each year.
Venus, ruler of her third house of initiative, communication,
is conjunct her ascendant ruler, the Sun bringing charm
and charisma to her personality. Saturn, seventh house
ruler, and Mars, ninth house ruler, are conjoined in
Dolly's chart joining together business and marital
partnerships with good fortune.
Not everything in Dolly's life has been so rosy. She
is disappointed that she never had the opportunity to
have children. Jupiter, a significator for progeny and
ruler of her fifth house of children is weak and afflicted
by Rahu. During her Rahu subperiod (in her weak Mars
main period) from 1985-1986, she stopped performing,
recording, and refused film scripts because of health
problems. During her Ketu subperiod, in 1982, Parton
underwent an ulcer operation and suffered gynecological
problems. Ketu is in the fifth house ruling ulcers and
afflicts the Moon which governs the female organs.
Her wealth is seen from her second house lord, Mercury,
conjuncting her fifth house (speculation) MEP and aspecting
her eleventh house of gains and fulfillment of desires.
