Bob Denver
Television funnyman, Bob Denver, passed away
September 2, 2005 from complications following
surgery for throat cancer.
Widely known from TV re-runs of Gilligan's
Island, Denver played the confused Gilligan
castaway on a deserted island. He is also known
for his role as the off-beat beatnik, Maynard
G. Krebs, on "The Many Lives of Dobie Gillis."
The benefic Sun, lord of the 3rd house of communications
aspects the 1st and 7th houses as does the facile
planet of communication, Mercury. This pair allows
personal expression (1st house) to project to
others (7th house) and vice-versa. He was beloved
by his many fans. Additionally, the Moon, ruler
of the 2nd house of status and wealth, conjoins
the most effective point of the 3rd (communication)
and 9th (good fortune) houses.
The quirkiness of his characters is shown by
the conjunction of the eccentric Rahu with Venus,
which rules entertainment and Denver's 5th house
of creativity.
Sadly, it is this same conjunction (along with
Rahu's opposite malefic twin, Ketu) which contributed
to throat cancer as Venus also rules the throat.
He died during a Mercury subperiod. Mercury in
this chart is extremely weak and in the 8th house
of death. Transiting Rahu and Ketu exactly afflicted
natal Mars, a significator for vitality.
Rodden Rating: AA, B.R. in hand from Steinbrecher
